Nail polish ingredient linked to reproductive risks banned in Europe

The European Union has banned Trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide (TPO), a chemical used in nail polish to help it harden under UV light, due to animal studies suggesting potential reproductive health risks. While still legal in the U.S., increasing consumer awareness and shifts in global supply chains may lead to a reduction of TPO use in American products. Alternative chemicals that do not show harmful effects in studies are available, and manufacturers are expected to shift towards these safer options. For those concerned about TPO, experts advise checking product ingredients and improving salon safety measures.
