Resolution calls on Russia to release Whelan
The White House says it's in touch with Russia over the arrest of an American journalist on spying accusations. Evan Gershkovich works for the Wall Street Journal. Russia says he was detained on suspicion of spying for the American government. The Wall Street Journal vehemently denies the accusations and is trying to get Gershkovich released. He's the first U.S. journalist arrested by Russia on spying claims since the cold war. If he's convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
