Sister fights for Abbas family's legacy in drunk driving legislation

Rima Abbas and her family were tragically killed by a drunk driver in Kentucky while returning to Michigan from Florida. In response, her sister successfully advocated for legislation requiring anti-drunk driving technology in all new cars, which became law in 2021. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to release the necessary recommendations to implement this technology. The legislation, named in honor of the Abbas family, mandates that drunk driving detection systems be installed in new cars by 2026.
