Jury deadlocked in Christopher Schurr murder trial

The jury in the trial of former Grand Rapids Police Officer Christopher Schurr, charged with second-degree murder in the death of Patrick Lyoya, is deadlocked after over a day of deliberations. Despite the jury's difficulty in reaching a unanimous verdict, Judge Christina Mims encouraged continued deliberation, denying the defense's request for a mistrial. The jury has three options: finding Schurr guilty of second-degree murder, guilty of voluntary manslaughter, or not guilty.
