Oakland County Sheriff’s Office holds annual Peace Officers Memorial Day Awards Ceremony
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office held its annual Peace Officers Memorial Day Awards Ceremony, honoring deputies, first responders, and citizens for acts of heroism. Sgt. Joseph Ashley received the Command Officer of the Year Award for his lifesaving actions during the Splashpad active-shooter incident. Allyson Dale was awarded the Citizen Citation Award for her fundraising efforts to provide ballistic vests for the K-9 unit, which led to the founding of the K-9 Defense Fund. The Valor Citation was posthumously awarded to Deputy Bradley Reckling, who was killed in the line of duty while conducting surveillance on stolen vehicles.
