The third most crash-prone area on I-96 is between Greenfield Road and Wyoming Avenue, where ten fatalities occurred in six crashes from 2019 to 2023. Contributing factors include attempts to switch from express to local lanes at the last minute. The majority of the 757 crashes were single-vehicle incidents, with 56% occurring in the eastbound lanes, predominantly on Sundays, while July saw the fewest accidents.
