Det. Rothman highlights the success of the MSU-MSP cold case collaboration

Michigan State University students, in collaboration with the Michigan State Police, have played a crucial role in solving a nearly three-decade-old murder case as part of the MSU-MSP Cold Case Collaboration. The program pairs criminal justice students with detectives, allowing them to re-examine cold cases with fresh perspectives, which led to the arrest of Michael and Ricardo Sepulveda for the murder of a man known as “John Doe” in 1997. This partnership marks the second successful resolution of a cold case through student involvement, demonstrating the program's significant impact.
