I-96 crash data: Analyzing the most dangerous stretch

The Local 4 investigative team has identified the top crash hotspots on I-96 based on five years of data. The most dangerous area is the stretch between 7 Mile Road and the M-14/I-96 interchange, where 978 crashes occurred from 2019 to 2023. Contributing factors include complex lane changes and high traffic volume, particularly from drivers exiting at Eight Mile or transitioning at the interchange. October recorded the highest number of incidents, with most crashes occurring at 5 p.m., although only one was fatal.
