Study finds 54% of parents don’t ask about guns before kids visit friends

Gun violence has become the leading cause of death for children in the U.S., with many incidents involving improperly stored firearms. A University of Michigan study reveals that 54% of parents do not inquire about the presence of guns in other homes before allowing their children to visit. Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian emphasizes the importance of normalizing conversations about gun safety among parents and educating children on the dangers of firearms. Recent findings from the CDC highlight that almost all unintentional gun injuries in children aged 0-5 involve unsecured, loaded guns.
