‘Inherently dangerous’: Why Coast Guard is warning against Port Huron Float Down
The annual Port Huron Float Down is happening on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, and the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards are warning of the risks for those participating in the event. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the event poses a great danger to people on the 7.5-mile course. High risk factors include the fast-moving current, weather conditions, water temperature, large number of participants, lack of life jackets and alcohol consumption.
