Baby pygmy hippo born in Michigan zoo
A pygmy hippo calf was born at John Ball Zoo in Michigan, marking the first birth of its kind at the zoo. The calf, born to first-time parents Penelope and Jahari on September 3, weighs 11 pounds. Pygmy hippos are endangered, with fewer than 2,500 in the wild. The zoo reports that both mother and calf are healthy and bonding well.
