A high school football game in Kalamazoo turned disturbing when a player wearing number 73 from Kalamazoo Central jumped on a Lakeshore player after a tackle, resulting in a broken spine for the injured player. The player's mother, Courtney Mims, expressed her distress over the incident, stating her son will be out for the season, with uncertainty about his future in the sport, though a full recovery is expected. The Michigan High School Athletic Association indicated that both schools are addressing the incident internally.
