Metro Detroit families gather spotlight domestic violence, available resources

Metro Detroit families gathered at the Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center on October 4 to highlight domestic violence awareness and resources during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event emphasized community support, with key figures like Pastor Brenda Evans Newell and Attorney General Dana Nessel advocating for action and awareness. The McDonald Phelps Foundation, which has raised $25,000 since 2009, played a significant role in fundraising efforts, particularly as federal funding uncertainties loom. Mayor Glenda McDonald encouraged those in need to seek help and remain connected to their communities.
