Nor’easter prompts states of emergency, flooding from New Jersey to Carolinas

A powerful nor’easter is impacting the East Coast, causing significant flooding in South Jersey back bay communities and hazardous conditions with winds over 50 mph. Atlantic City officials are worried about high tides, particularly the one expected at 2 p.m. No water rescues have occurred, but conditions remain dangerous. The Carolinas, especially Georgetown, have experienced severe flooding, with streets barricaded and water entering storefronts. States of emergency are declared in New Jersey and parts of New York, with major events like the Columbus Day parade canceled due to the storm.
