Over 400 Michigan high school students to participate in welding competition -- What to know

Students at Thurston High School in Redford are welding, fabricating and competing against other schools across Michigan. Members of the Ironworkers Local 25 are the force behind the 2025 High School Welding Invitational. It's a five-day showcase kicking off Nov. 17. Nearly 400 high school welding students will be involved. Brad Pierce, the outreach specialist with the Ironworks, joined Local 4 Live to explain what inspired this competition for high school students.
