Sinkholes close Southfield Freeway ramps to eastbound I-96, MDOT says

Two separate sinkholes were discovered Monday on the entrance ramps from M-39 (Southfield Freeway) to eastbound I-96, prompting ramp closures, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced. They were discovered on Monday, Nov. 10. On Monday, when the discovery was first made, MDOT said ramp closures would be in effect for one week, but on Wednesday, officials released an update and said the timeframe for the work is unknown at this time, as crews are working to determine what repairs are needed.
