Hearing: Untested evidence questioned amid testimony on fire cause in Troy hyperbaric chamber death
Troy Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Hugg testified that static electric discharge was the likely cause of the fire in the Oakland County hyperbaric chamber explosion, saying the use of a grounding strap could’ve reduced the risk. The defense continued to question him about evidence that hasn’t been tested yet. Hugg's testimony began on Friday, Dec. 12, and concluded on Tuesday, Dec. 16. The video above includes his testimony from Dec. 16. He was the only person called to testify during the hearing on Tuesday. The hearing is expected to resume on Jan. 12, 2026.
