Competency exam ordered for Utica man accused of stabbing wife to death during custody exchange

A 25-year-old man, Sidney Emmanuel Davis, Jr., has been ordered to undergo a competency evaluation at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry after being charged with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing his estranged wife, Fatme Davis, during a custody exchange in Shelby Township. The incident, which occurred at a gas station, resulted in her death, while their 1-year-old son was present in her car. A review hearing for his competency is set for January 29, 2026, and if convicted, he could face life in prison.
