Bond denied for Buster Robbins in decades-old Washtenaw County rape, murder case

Buster Robbins has been denied bond in a Washtenaw County case involving the 1989 rape and murder of Beverly Wivell. Robbins was linked to the crime through DNA evidence tested in 2024, and he faces charges of kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder. During a recent bond hearing, the defense argued the evidence was weak and Robbins posed a low flight risk, but the judge upheld the no-bond decision due to the seriousness of the charges and existing probable cause. The bond decision will be revisited in January 2027, and Robbins’ trial is set for February 2027.
