What Michigan workers can expect from new minimum wage law

Millions of workers across 22 states and Washington, D.C., will experience minimum wage increases by 2026, with Washington, D.C. leading at $17.95 per hour. Despite these increases, experts highlight that it won't completely address wealth inequality. In Michigan, the minimum wage will rise to $13.73 per hour on January 1, with tipped workers earning $5.49, and further increases are scheduled annually until it reaches $15 in 2027.
