What are the housing trends for 2026?

It’s a new year, which means new goals, including, for many, buying a new home. According to a new survey from RE/MAX, about 88% of prospective home buyers plan to buy a home this year despite delays caused by high costs and economic uncertainty. Buyers are looking for more than just a house, they want neighborhoods with safety, community and access to amentities like grocery stores, parks and restaurants. Younger generations, like Gen Z and Millennials, are willing to pay more for shared amenities to build that sense of community Safety, affordability and convenience to work and schools are top priorities. Jeanette Schneider, the president and regional director of RE/MAX of Southeastern Michigan, joined Local 4 Live to talk about some of these trends.
