Here are ways to lower holiday debt

The holidays may be over, but the holiday credit card debt is still hanging around. LendingTree said the average holiday debt hit more than $1,200. Parents with kids under 18 took on even more, with nearly half borrowing to cover holiday costs, adding an average of $1,300 in debt. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York reports Americans now carry a record of $1.2 trillion in credit card debt: The highest ever. With the new year here, many are focusing on paying off that debt and avoiding the holiday hangover. Kathi Sitek, the Vice President of Business Development at Diversified Members Credit Union, joined Local 4 Live to talk about some best practices to lower that debt.
