‘Aw, snap. My bad’: Michigan man appears in cat filter to plead guilty

A 22-year-old Michigan man appeared in a virtual court hearing with a cat filter accidentally activated on his camera while pleading guilty to an assault and battery charge from an August 2025 incident in Van Buren Township. After initially joining with a Golden Gate Bridge background, the man quickly apologized and removed the filter. The court, with agreement from the prosecutor, sentenced him to 12 months of non-reporting probation under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act (HYTA), a fine, and ordered no contact with the victim.
