Expert at University of Michigan weighing in on new dietary guidelines
Experts at the University of Michigan are weighing in on the changes to the new food pyramid. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. unveiled new dietary guidelines last week, making notable changes to prior guidance. The new food pyramid emphasizes meat and dairy over whole grains. They continue to reiterate previous recommendations to eat fruits, vegetables and healthy proteins. Health officials inverted the food pyramid used in the 1990s and 2000s. To talk about the new food pyramid, assistant professor of nutritional sciences at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, Jennifer Garner, joined Local 4 Live.
