National school lunch program expands milk options with new law

President Trump signed a bill altering the National School Lunch Program by reintroducing whole and 2% milk, alongside lactose-free and non-dairy alternatives, reversing the 2010 restrictions. The law also enforces limits on added sugars in flavored milk and allows parents to authorize non-dairy substitutes without medical notes. Dr. McGeorge highlighted the benefits of whole milk, noting it doesn't significantly contribute to obesity or cardiovascular disease compared to other saturated fats, while maintaining that lower-fat options remain available.
