‘They just left her’: Family seeks answers after Eastpointe hit-and-run injures 18-year-old daughter

A family is seeking answers after someone hit their 18-year-old daughter in Eastpointe on Tuesday night and drove off, leaving the teen in the roadway with serious injuries. De'asia Pesti was hit by a white truck while crossing the street near the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026. Darryl Pesti, De’asia’s father, said that from this crash his daughter has suffered broken ribs, a broken leg and underwent open-heart surgery.
