Detroit Metro Airport adds concrete barriers after vehicle crashes into terminal

Detroit Metro Airport has installed massive concrete barriers weighing thousands of pounds each along the McNamara Terminal’s arrivals and departures lanes following an incident where a driver crashed into the terminal. The barriers, similar to those used in cities like New York and New Orleans, aim to prevent vehicles from smashing into the terminal again. This security enhancement comes after a man drove his car through the terminal’s glass doors and into a Delta Airlines check-in counter, injuring six people. Airport CEO Chad Newton emphasized ongoing efforts with airlines and internal teams to determine permanent solutions to protect visitors and employees.
