Calls for change, tougher laws to address cyberbullying

In the U.S., there is a growing call for tougher laws to address cyberbullying, as there is currently no federal legislation specifically targeting such behavior. Daniel “DJ” Phillips, a 19-year-old from Washington Township, faced severe impersonation and misinformation on social media, highlighting the limitations of existing laws. Michigan Sen. Stephanie Chang advocates for increased accountability from social media companies and consideration of how minors are treated in cyberbullying cases. Attorney Aaron Minc suggests revising Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, while Chang emphasizes the potential for adopting successful international laws like those in the UK and Australia.
