Identity theft and cyberbullying case in Michigan sparks community action against online harassment

A Romeo High School sophomore, DJ Phillips, was victimized by a 15-year-old girl from Novi who created fake online profiles using his images, leading to identity theft and cyberbullying. As a result, DJ faced bullying, public humiliation, and physical assault, prompting a police investigation that traced the harassment back to the Novi teen. The case attracted significant media attention, sparking discussions on protecting children from cyberbullying. The perpetrator was sentenced to probation and community service, while DJ shared his experience to raise awareness about online safety.
