Michigan lawmakers to hold town hall on social media safety for children -- what to know

Lawmakers in Michigan are holding a town hall on a subject that is on the minds of so many parents: How to make sure their children are safe online. The town hall, called Kids Over Clicks, is tied to new legislation unveiled in the state senate. Lawmakers are pushing bills that target addictive social media feeds, the privacy of minors and AI companion chatbots. And, they want parents to get involved. Lawmakers are asking people to fill out a survey and attend the town hall on Feb. 23 to give input on what their children are experiencing. State Senator Dayne Polehanki, D-Livonia, joined Local 4 Live to talk about Monday night’s Town Hall and the legislation proposed in the state senate.
