Violence spreads in western Mexico following death of cartel boss El Mencho
The death of "El Mencho," Mexico's most-wanted cartel leader, led to widespread violence in western Mexico, where vehicles were set ablaze to form roadblocks, a tactic to hinder military actions. American tourist Scott Posilkin witnessed the chaos in Puerto Vallarta, highlighting the escalating tension. In response, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized efforts to restore peace and security, while 2,500 reinforcement troops were deployed. The U.S. has advised its citizens in Mexico to remain sheltered amid the unrest.
