Orion Township condo blast survivors still paying association dues despite no building

An explosion in November 2024, suspected to be caused by a gas leak, destroyed part of the Keatington New Town Condominiums in Orion Township, displacing residents like 85-year-old Evelyn. Despite being unable to live in her condo, Evelyn pays hundreds in association fees while also covering $2,000 monthly rent elsewhere. Her son, John Malm, is advocating for a temporary suspension of these fees until residents can return, citing the financial strain on those with fixed incomes. Construction is planned to start this summer, and John is drafting a letter to the HOA for fee relief, which he intends to submit before their next meeting.
