Are tornado sirens still the best way to warn residents in SE Michigan?

Is this still the best way to alert people to severe weather? That's the question being asked in some southeast Michigan communities. Local 4 gets a lot of calls to our newsroom during severe weather when people don't hear the sirens. But in places like Ann Arbor, they're at least considering retiring the warning system.
