How screen time can benefit brain health in older adults

Usually, we’re telling the kids to get off the phones and tablets, and that too much screen time can turn their brains to mush. However, using tech could actually help brain health in older adults. Recent research says older adults who regularly use the internet have lower odds of cognitive decline. And it’s not just puzzles and apps — social media, video calls and online groups can cut loneliness, a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, depression and anxiety. Dr. Saba Azhar, with Henry Ford Health, who practices geriatric medicine, joined Local 4 Live to break this all down.
