Fourth suspected measles case detected in Washtenaw County, officials list new exposure sites
Washtenaw County is tracking another case of the measles. This could bring the total to four cases, all linked to travel from Florida. This new case is a close contact with the first case reported on March 11. The health department is releasing a list of new exposure sites. Two sites were at buildings on the campus of Washtenaw Community College on March 17 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. A third site is at the Kroger on Whittaker Road between 5 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. The measles virus can live in the air for up to two hours. If you were at any of the locations and weren’t vaccinated, watch for symptoms for the next 21 days. Susan Ringler Cerniglia with the Washtenaw County Health Department joined Local 4 Live to talk more about this.
