Most patients skip at-home physical therapy, slowing recovery

A new Ohio State Wexner Medical Center survey reveals that three out of four physical therapy patients do not complete their prescribed at-home exercises, mainly due to forgetting or lack of time. Physical therapist Kyle Smith emphasizes that clinic sessions alone are not enough for recovery, and integrating exercises into daily routines and linking them to personal goals can improve consistency. Patient Purity Snelling initially struggled with her home exercises but found motivation through understanding their importance and making them a regular part of her life. The story highlights the critical role of at-home physical therapy in achieving lasting recovery and mobility.
