Detroit survey finds limited support for AI in government beyond missing-child identification

A University of Michigan survey of 2,100 Detroit residents found that support for using artificial intelligence in city services varies depending on its application. The highest approval was for using AI to identify missing children (57%), while fewer residents supported its use for neighborhood monitoring (38%), crime suspect identification (34%), navigating government resources (34%), and managing water systems (30%).
