Families sue police over alleged warrantless home entries, excessive force

Two families have filed separate federal civil rights lawsuits accusing police in Detroit and Warren of forcing their way into homes without warrants, using excessive force, and then pursuing criminal charges that were later dismissed. Both lawsuits were filed this week by Todd Perkins of the law firm Perkins Law Group. One case centers around an incident where a Detroit officer was seen on video repeatedly punching a man while he was restrained. The other claims Warren police used excessive force after a driver and passenger fled into a couple’s home during a traffic stop.
