Why Detroit kids are getting 500 new books at their school
More than 70 Detroit Public Schools Community District schools are receiving boxes of new books, with about 500 titles per school, as part of a nearly $500,000 partnership between GM and First Book. The initiative aims to boost literacy and provide students with access to diverse and STEM-focused reading materials, with the goal of inspiring lifelong readers and eliminating barriers. At Palmer Park Preparatory Academy, students and staff highlighted the positive impact of the donation, noting its role in expanding library resources and opportunities for students.
