Tick exposure and lyme disease cases surge across southeast Michigan

It's an uptick nobody's excited to see. Tick exposures in Southeast Michigan were once relatively rare. But that's no longer the case. Tick-related illnesses are up, too. According to the state health department, cases of Lyme disease nearly quadrupled in Michigan between 2022 and 2025. Local 4 talked to a Metro Detroit doctor who says he's already seen several patients with tick bites.
