I-96 crash statistics: Top four danger zones identified

Local 4 Investigators identified the top four crash zones on I-96 in Metro Detroit, focusing on sections between mile markers 181 and 183, as well as between Greenfield Road and Wyoming Avenue. The former experiences a crash nearly every three days due to the express/local split causing confusion, while the latter saw ten fatalities in six crashes over five years, largely due to drivers attempting risky maneuvers when realizing they are in the wrong lane. Most crashes in these areas were single-vehicle incidents, with a higher frequency on Sundays and fewer in July.
