DETROIT – Alright, let’s think about this.
It’s March 7, and our long-term average HIGH temperature is 42° (5° Celsius for our Canadian neighbors). As you keep this in mind, consider that our morning LOW temperatures the next couple of days will be in the 40s and 50s, and HIGHS will be well into the 60s! But let’s not get ahead of ourselves (oops, too late, I already did).

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with just the tiniest chance for a brief, light shower as a relatively quiet warm front crosses the area. Lows in the mid 40s (7° Celsius). South wind at 5 to 10 mph.
Variably cloudy on Primary Day -- you might want to take a nice walk to the polls and exercise your privilege to vote (by the way, voting isn’t a “right" -- it’s a privilege). Highs should easily reach the upper 60s (20° Celsius), and I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if some of you south of I-94 managed to hit 70° (21° Celsius)! South-southwest wind at 10 to 20 mph. We won’t even come close to tomorrow’s record high of 80° (27° Celsius), set in 2000. In fact, that’s our earliest 80° day in Detroit weather history!
Tuesday’s sunrise is at 6:56 AM, and Tuesday’s sunset is at 6:32 PM.
Becoming cloudy Tuesday night, with a shower possible, late. Lows in the low 50s (11° Celsius), which would obliterate the March 9th record for our warmest low temperature – 43° (6° Celsius) set in 1977.
Showers are likely on Wednesday and Wednesday night, with highs in the mid 60s (18° Celsius), and lows Wednesday night near 50° (10° Celsius). By the way, Wednesday’s record high is an oldie -- 68° (20.5° Celsius) set way back in 1878, and Thursday morning’s record for warmest low temperature is 44° (6.5° Celsius) also set in 1878.
Showers are still possible on Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s (14° Celsius).
Showers end Thursday night, with lows near 40° (4° Celsius).
Partly cloudy on Friday, a nice day to end the work week, with highs in the low 50s (11° Celsius).
As for the upcoming weekend, another storm system is on the way, but the models differ on whether the rain will hold off until the end of the day on Saturday. Right now, I think it will, but this could change -- stay tuned. In the meantime, plan on Saturday being the better of the two days, with a greater chance of rain on Sunday. Highs will remain well above average, in the upper 50s (14° Celsius).
Finally, don’t forget that THIS SATURDAY NIGHT WE SET OUR CLOCKS AHEAD ONE HOUR BEFORE WE GO TO BED. If you forget, you’ll be an hour late for wherever you need to be Sunday morning.
