Ben Bailey breaks down extreme drought for parts of Metro Detroit

Metro Detroit more than 6 inches below average rainfall since May 1

DETROIT – The drought monitor for parts of southeast Michigan was updated to a severe drought Thursday.

Western Wayne County and parts of Flint are included in the severe drought.

No significant rain is expected over the next seven days, only some scattered chances of storms.

This is the first time Metro Detroit has had a severe drought since July 2012.

We’re more than six inches below average rainfall since May 1.
