Weather forecast: Steamy with storms later Friday in SE Michigan

DETROITThundershowers this morning are moving east leaving a decent amount of rain and some pooling and ponding on the roads that could slow you down prior to 7 or 8 a.m.

Most of your Friday will be quiet and dry around Metro Detroit as we continue to feel the heat and humidity. Highs will hit the mid 80s and feel even warmer, so make sure you’re hydrated and careful with the heat index as you work on outdoor activities.

Slight Risk for storms late Friday

The afternoon heating brings a chance for some pop up rain and thunderstorms, some of which could produce damaging winds and small hail in addition to lightning. That storm potential will be very hit or miss in the late afternoon and early evening. A wave of heavier rain and storm potential comes through either late, late tonight and/or early Saturday. A Slight Risk for storms to reach severe potential late this afternoon and overnight.

Saturday starts with rain

Saturday starts out soaking, but conditions will improve at times. We will likely see another round of rain and thunder midday and it will be another warm one in the 80s and still a bit muggy. Again, most of your Saturday will be dry with scattered shower chances.

Cooler Sunday

It will feel nicer on Sunday as slightly cooler and less humid air hits us under mostly sunny skies and temps near 80 degrees to end the weekend. An early look into next week calls for showers and storms coming and going starting early Monday and then on and off before the big Holiday.

Right now, the models are showing mostly dry conditions with warming July sun on Tuesday… The 4th Of July. You can track radar and stay ahead of the showers and storms with our Local4Casters app.
