Metro Detroit weather: Rain, thundershowers expected this afternoon
Brandon Roux, Meteorologist
DETROIT – A warm and muggy start with some cloud cover flying over Metro Detroit to start your Wednesday.
Temps in the upper 60s to low 70s early and with a mix of sun and clouds, temps will head into the mid and maybe upper 80s feeling like low 90s with a tropical and unpleasant air mass in place all the way through Saturday across SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario.
Afternoon thundershowers
You can expect a few spotty rain and thundershowers this afternoon as a cool front moves through, but these will be garden variety showers without the concern of severe storms flaring up. The timeframe for spotty showers is 1pm to 7pm.
We may be waking up to some stronger storms on Thursday morning as models show a complex of storms activating in our area early and then it’s all about the heat and humidity again. Temps tomorrow will head into the mid and upper 80s as the humidity creates some health concerns making it feel like the 90s. The muggy air is very unstable and a few spotty strong storms are possible later in the afternoon too.
Metro Detroit will see another shot of spotty strong storms on Friday with partly sunny and very muggy conditions in the 80s to low and mid 90s when it comes to ‘feels like’ temps. Scattered storms again both Friday and Saturday afternoon before we get a break and dry out on Sunday.
