DETROIT – Another chilly start with morning temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s and more frost on the windshield as you head out.
Clouds will be increasing quickly this morning with an approaching cold front, so we’ll hit our highs in the low and mid 40s by lunchtime. This arctic cold front will blast through by late afternoon bringing a chance for a very little rain and snow mix. Most of this should be drizzle or light rain, with some ice pellets and snowflakes all happening between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The winds are going to start cranking today SW 10-20 mph and you will feel it as temps fall back through the lower 40s then upper 30s this afternoon with a spotty, light wintry mix.
Friday forecast
Get ready for two very cold mornings in a row starting Friday mainly in the teens as you head out early tomorrow. We should get back into a nice mix of sun and clouds with winds relaxing N 5-12 mph keeping lake effect clouds a little thicker in spots near Lake Huron. Afternoon highs Friday around Metro Detroit will stop in the low and mid 30s -- that’s it!
Weekend forecast
Weekend wet weather looks to be confined to Sunday. So, Veteran’s Day Saturday will be cold to start in the teens and low 20s, then partly sunny and highs will struggle to hit 40 degrees. That will depend on how early the clouds roll in and thicken up ahead of a wintry mix on the way. Expect some rain and snow early Sunday and we could have a few periods of all snow before 9am. Then, a mix of rain and snow through the day with only a slight warm up into the low 40s.
