Storm threat continues in Metro Detroit -- downpours, flooding, strong winds possible

Not just the rest of today, but also tomorrow and parts of the weekend

DETROIT – Showers and storms that have developed today will continue to be monitored through about sunset, and some have been packing a punch.

Along with the threat for gusty winds, isolated downpours have caused some flooding across southeast Michigan. There’s plenty of moisture in the atmosphere to work with and these storms are squeezing it all out.

Overnight tonight we should dry out, though some models hint that another cluster of showers and storms to our west may creep their way in closer to midnight.

Thursday is looking mainly dry, but another one or two showers/storms is looking possible later in the morning and early afternoon. This cluster will not be widespread, and a lot of us will stay dry, but it’s something we’ll have to keep an eye on.

The end of the week is cooler, with highs Friday struggling to get to near 80.

The weekend looks okay, but there’s another chance for showers and storms that could impact part of your weekend plans. While long range data hasn’t been completely consistent, it’s starting to lean towards rain chances moving in Saturday evening and hanging with us through Sunday morning. We will however have to hone in on the timing of all this over the next couple of days.
