DETROIT – There’s a chance of strong storms Tuesday in Metro Detroit, and the window of when they’re most likely is coming into focus.
Tuesday storm timeline
High-resolution models don’t have a great handle on Tuesday’s forecast, but it appears there will be some scattered showers and storms later in the evening.
Metro Detroit is under a marginal risk for severe weather, which is a level 1 out of 5 on the scale. Strong winds and isolated flooding are the greatest concerns.
Anything that pops up during the afternoon, through about 8 p.m. Tuesday, should be isolated, but there’s a chance those storms could be strong.
Chances increase as we get later in the afternoon.
After 8 p.m. Tuesday -- and especially closer to 10-11 p.m. -- there’s a better chance for scattered showers and storms to move through. Most of Metro Detroit should get in on the action during that batch.
That round of storms should exit by round midnight.
Wednesday showers
There’s a chance for a couple of isolated showers through the day Wednesday, but it appears most of Metro Detroit will stay dry.
Next week’s storm, rain chances
Long-range models show showers and storms early next week.
Chances arrive Sunday and hang around through Tuesday. The best chances are on Sunday.
Relief from humidity
For now, it still feels heavy outside. But relief from the humidity is on the way.
Thursday and Friday will feel much better. Unfortunately, the humidity will return this weekend. Highs are near 90 degrees, but it’ll feel like the mid-90s.
