The National Weather Service has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in Michigan on Monday, Sept. 22.
Antrim County tornado
An EF-1 tornado touched down at 6:02 p.m. Monday on the southwest side of Bellaire, Michigan, according to NWS.
The tornado moved northeast for about .85 miles before dissipating at 6:04 p.m. on the north side of Craven Park, the report says.
There was spotty tree damage along the path.
Grand Traverse County tornado
A tornado of unknown strength was detected Monday in Grand Traverse County. The National Weather Service is calling it a “brief tornado.”
Video showed that the tornado briefly touched down, but since there was no damage, it has been classified as an EF-U -- designating an unknown minimum wind speed.
Its path was less than one-tenth of a mile and it was on the ground for a minute, according to the report.
Torch Lake tornado
NWS officials said a “tornadic waterspout” developed over central Torch Lake on Monday.
It dissipated shortly after making landfall on the eastern shore of the lake, the report says.
Only minor tree damage was observed, and the tornado was classified as an EF-0.
It traveled .14 miles and was on the ground for a minute, the report says.
