DETROIT – Most of Southeast Michigan is under a risk for severe weather on Tuesday.
Following brief period of rain Tuesday morning as a cold front pushed through, Metro Detroit should be dry through midday, with more showers in the afternoon and evening.

Isolated showers begin to develop after 3 p.m. Tuesday, with stronger scattered showers in the evening that are capable of producing gusty winds up to 40 mph, small hail, and thunder.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Storm Prediction Center expanded the “marginal” severe weather risk beyond Monroe County, Lenawee County, and the southern parts of Wayne and Washtenaw counties.
Now almost the entire area is under a marginal risk for severe weather, as you can see in the map below.
The main hazard is damaging wind.
As widely scattered convection develops during the afternoon, strong to locally severe gusts of wind from 50-65 mph are possible for a few hours. The activity weakens by the early evening as it spreads across Lake Erie.
Occasional showers last Tuesday night and Wednesday with much cooler conditions building in through Thursday.
Highs Tuesday will be around 60 degrees before falling into the 50s for the rest of the week.
